The Shaft Women’s Rights Association proudly participated as a partner organization in the Erasmus+ youth exchange project “For the Better: Sustainability,” which took place in Budapest, Hungary, from 18 to 25 May 2025.

The project brought together 48 young people and 6 partner organizations from Hungary, Turkey, Romania, Portugal, Latvia, and Iceland with the shared goal of promoting environmental awareness and sustainable living among youth.

“For the Better: Sustainability” aimed to raise awareness among young people about the importance of protecting the environment and to encourage responsible and sustainable lifestyles.

The main objectives of the project included:

  • Raising awareness about sustainability among young people,

  • Increasing knowledge about natural resources and their responsible use,

  • Promoting education on waste management and its environmental impact,

  • Encouraging environmentally conscious behavior in daily life, and

  • Strengthening intercultural dialogue and cooperation through joint learning activities.

Throughout the project week, participants took part in a wide range of interactive and practical activities, including:“Trees, Humans, and Carbon Dioxide,” “Compost Making,” “Sustainability in Clothing,” “Food Consumption and Sustainability,” and “Recycling is Going to Be Awesome.”

They also designed mini wind turbines and solar panels in creative workshops focused on renewable energy and innovation. The Erasmus+ and Youthpass sessions helped participants understand the values of the Erasmus+ program and the 8 Key Competences for Lifelong Learning, supporting their personal and professional growth.

Cultural activities such as the Meeting of Cultures Night and a Budapest City Tour allowed participants to celebrate diversity, build international friendships, and promote tolerance and understanding across different cultures.

The project created meaningful results both for the participants and the partner organizations.Young participants developed their leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while gaining deeper understanding of environmental sustainability. They also improved their foreign language abilities, digital literacy, and self-confidence through intercultural cooperation.

The Shaft Women’s Rights Association is honored to have contributed to this impactful Erasmus+ project and remains committed to empowering young people — especially women — to take active roles in building a more sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally responsible world.
