Shaft Women's Rights Association participated as an international partner in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project “For the Better: Sustainability” (2024-3-HU01-KA152-YOU-000267485), contributing to an initiative aimed at enhancing young people's knowledge, skills, and awareness regarding environmental sustainability.

The project was coordinated by Fenntartható Ifjúságért Egyesület and took place in Budapest, Hungary, between 18–25 May 2025. Bringing together young people from Hungary, Turkey, Romania, Portugal, Latvia, and Iceland, the project created an international learning environment focused on sustainable living and environmental protection.

The main objective of the project was to raise awareness among young people about environmental sustainability, the responsible use of natural resources, and the importance of protecting nature for future generations. Participants explored topics such as waste management, recycling, composting, sustainable fashion, food consumption, and renewable energy, while developing a deeper understanding of environmentally responsible practices.

Throughout the project, participants took part in a variety of educational and interactive activities, including sessions on trees, carbon dioxide and climate change, natural resources and sustainability, wind turbine and solar panel design workshops, compost-making activities, recycling workshops, and discussions on sustainable consumption. The programme also included cultural exchange activities, a stakeholder visit, a city tour of Budapest, and evaluation sessions, providing participants with valuable opportunities for intercultural learning and cooperation.

As a partner organisation, Shaft Women's Rights Association aimed to support young people in developing a stronger sense of environmental responsibility, increasing their awareness of sustainability issues, and encouraging active participation in creating positive environmental change. The project also promoted international collaboration and strengthened connections between young people from different cultural backgrounds.

The expected outcomes of the project included increased environmental awareness, improved leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, greater respect for cultural diversity, enhanced foreign language and digital competences, and stronger international networks among participants. Furthermore, the project contributed to the institutional development of the partner organisations and supported the dissemination of sustainable practices within local communities.

Through initiatives such as “For the Better: Sustainability,” Shaft Women's Rights Association continues to support youth engagement, environmental awareness, and international cooperation, helping to build a more sustainable and responsible future for upcoming generations.
